Beverly Horvit

Beverly Horvit has worked at several Texas newspapers, including the Corpus Christi Caller-Times and The Houston Post, where she was a copy chief. While earning her graduate degrees from the University of Missouri, Dr. Horvit also worked as an instructor/news editor at the Columbia Missourian for more than four years. The daily newspaper is a working laboratory for students at the University of Missouri School of Journalism.

 

Dr. Horvit teaches reporting, editing, public affairs reporting, media writing and international communication. Before coming to TCU in 2003, she taught at Winthrop University in Rock Hill, S.C., and the University of Texas at Arlington.

 

Dr. Horvit's research interests include international news, media and foreign policy, and media ethics. She has conducted research on behalf of the American Society of Newspaper Editors and has been published in the Newspaper Research Journal, as well as in a widely used media ethics textbook.

 

Dr. Horvit is a member of the Society of Professional Journalists and board member of the Dallas/Fort Worth Association for Women Journalists. She also has been inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa and Kappa Tau Alpha honorary societies.
