
Bob Schieffer, a 1959 TCU graduate, broadcast journalism’s most experienced Washington reporter, has been moderator of Face the Nation, CBS News’ Sunday public affairs broadcast, since 1991 and anchor of the CBS Evening News since 2005. At TCU, he guest lectures in broadcast journalism classes as his CBS schedule permits and holds the rank of distinguished professor of broadcast journalism.
Schieffer covered Washington for CBS for more than 30 years and is one of the few broadcast or print journalists to have worked all four major beats in the capital – the White House, the Pentagon, the State Department and Capitol Hill.
He has won six Emmy awards and two Sigma Delta Chi awards. In 2002 he was inducted into the Broadcasting and Cable Hall of Fame and was named Broadcaster of the Year by the National Press Foundation. Schieffer began his journalism career at the Skiff and went on to work for the Fort Worth Star-Telegram and WBAP-TV before joining CBS in 1969.
