Dr. Janice Wood brings 15 years of professional experience to the advertising and public relations classes she teaches at TCU. She also serves as the internship coordinator for the Schieffer School.
Dr. Wood worked primarily as a writer and editor in corporate communication and print journalism. While living in Greenville, S.C., she spent several years in advertising with Michelin Tire Corporation and also with a prominent real-estate banking and property-management firm. In her home state of Tennessee, North Carolina and South Carolina, she earlier had reported and copyedited for several newspapers.
Just before coming to TCU in 2004, Dr. Wood worked with advertising, journalism and broadcasting students at Southern Illinois University and taught for five years at a small college near Memphis, Tenn. Her research interests include historical topics, particularly individuals who fought for their right to free speech. She also has studied issues involving the regulation and the professional critique of advertising.
