The Schieffer School and the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington, D.C., have announced a new series of dialogues with journalists and public policy experts to be held in the nation’s capital.
The series, Dialogues in Public Policy and the Media, will be jointly sponsored by the Schieffer School and CSIS and will be hosted by Bob Schieffer. The programs will be held at CSIS headquarters at 1800 K Street NW in Washington.
“CSIS is one of the top public policy think tanks in the world, so this is an exciting opportunity for the Schieffer School and TCU,” Schieffer said. “It means that the school and TCU will be engaged on a regular basis with some of the most provocative and influential thinkers in the world.”
The dialogues will be presented as streaming video on the Schieffer School Web site, www.schiefferschool.tcu.edu.
CSIS is an independent, bipartisan public policy institute that provides strategic insights and policy solutions for decision makers in government, international institutions, the private sector and civil society.
Tommy Thomason, director of the Schieffer School, said the new initiative will give the Schieffer School more visibility in Washington.
“We are seeking to build one of the world’s top journalism schools, one that combines professional expertise with a commitment to the best ethical standards of our profession,” Thomason said. “That will mean an expanded presence in the nation’s capital to give our students the experiences and exposure they need to the workings of government and to policymakers. We see this new program as an important part of our commitment to providing that exposure for students and friends of the school.”
